2027 Hyundai Tucson: What We Know So Far and What You Can Buy Now

Hyundai's best-selling SUV is being redesigned for 2027, and while you wait for it, Kunes Hyundai of Quincy has the current Tucson on the lot.

The 2027 Hyundai Tucson is an all-new fifth-generation compact SUV with a boxier design, a larger body, a new interior, and a new infotainment system. Hyundai revealed the design in August 2026 and plans a fourth-quarter 2026 launch in its first markets, but it has not announced U.S. pricing, trims, or an on-sale date, and U.S. dealers are expected to receive it in early 2027. (This page covers what Hyundai had confirmed as of mid-October 2026, and we will update it as more details arrive.) Here is what is changing, what carries over, and what you can buy today.

What Is Changing on the 2027 Hyundai Tucson

The biggest change is the design. The fifth-generation Tucson adopts boxier, more upright styling that Hyundai calls Art of Steel, and it grows slightly, with a longer wheelbase and more room in the second row than the current model.

Inside, the Tucson gets a floating dashboard, a double-D-cut steering wheel, a slim instrument cluster, and a large central display that runs Hyundai's new Pleos Connect infotainment system, which is based on Android Automotive.

Hyundai also showed the redesigned Tucson XRT, the off-road-styled version of the compact SUV.

What Stays the Same

The Tucson remains Hyundai's compact SUV and its best seller, and a hybrid version is confirmed again for the new generation. Hyundai says the Tucson has passed 10 million global sales. Hyundai has not yet said which current trims and features will carry over to the U.S. model.

2027 Hyundai Tucson Powertrains

Hyundai has not announced the U.S. powertrains for the 2027 Tucson. For the hybrid, Hyundai described a system rated at 180 kilowatts and 380 Nm of torque, roughly 241 horsepower and 280 lb-ft, and reports based on Hyundai's figures put it about 11 horsepower and 10 lb-ft above the 2026 Tucson Hybrid. Hyundai has not confirmed a plug-in hybrid or the gas engine for the U.S.

2027 Hyundai Tucson Price and Release Date

Hyundai has not announced U.S. pricing for the 2027 Tucson. Redesigned models often cost more than the vehicles they replace, but Hyundai has not said what it will charge. Hyundai confirmed fourth-quarter 2026 launches for the Tucson and Tucson Hybrid in its first markets, and U.S. dealers are expected to receive the 2027 Tucson in early 2027. In the meantime, the current Tucson is on sale, and we can quote current pricing and incentives on any 2026 Tucson on our lots.

The 2026 Hyundai Tucson: What You Can Buy Now

While the redesign is on its way, the current Tucson is on sale and is a strong compact SUV in its own right. It comes with three powertrains: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine with 187 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque, a hybrid with 231 horsepower, and a plug-in hybrid. The gas Tucson is rated at 25 city and 33 highway mpg with front-wheel drive and 24 and 30 with all-wheel drive, and for 2026 Hyundai raised its towing rating from 2,000 to 2,750 lbs.

Every new 2026 Tucson has a large 12.3-inch touchscreen, and Hyundai backs every one with a 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. The N Line trim left the lineup for 2026, and the Tucson Hybrid gained a new entry point called the Blue SE.

2026 Tucson Trims in Plain English

The gas Tucson comes in SE, SEL, SEL Plus, SEL Premium (formerly SEL Convenience), XRT, and Limited trims. The SE is the straightforward starting point, and the SEL adds heated front seats and everyday comfort features. The XRT is the rugged one, with plastic body cladding, unique wheels, dark exterior accents, and a new Terrain mode for mud, snow, and sand. The Limited sits at the top, adding leather seating, ventilated front seats, premium audio, cameras that show the area around the vehicle, and a 12-inch color head-up display.

Tucson Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid

The Tucson Hybrid pairs a 231-horsepower powertrain with standard all-wheel drive in the Blue SE and earns up to 38 mpg combined, with higher trims rated at about 35 mpg combined. It comes in Blue SE, SEL, and Limited trims, and the Limited adds a heated steering wheel and heated rear seats. The plug-in hybrid, offered in SEL and Limited trims, adds an EPA-estimated 32 miles of electric range. Both are rated to tow up to 2,000 lbs.

Tucson Cargo, Towing, and Warranty

With the rear seats folded, the Tucson offers up to 80.3 cubic feet of cargo space. The gas models tow up to 2,750 lbs and the hybrid and plug-in hybrid models up to 2,000 lbs. Hyundai's warranty covers the powertrain for 10 years or 100,000 miles, the vehicle for 5 years or 60,000 miles, and corrosion perforation for 7 years with unlimited mileage.

Which 2026 Tucson Fits You?

Choose the gas Tucson for the simplest ownership and the highest towing rating, the hybrid for the best fuel economy, and the plug-in hybrid if your daily drive is short enough to run mostly on electric power. Pick the XRT for a more rugged look and a Terrain mode, or the Limited for leather, ventilated seats, and the most technology. Ask us which trims are on the lot, and we can walk you through them side by side.

Should You Wait for the 2027 Tucson or Buy a 2026 Now?

If you need a vehicle now, the current Tucson is available today. If you want the new design, the larger cabin, and the new technology, plan to wait until early 2027 and for Hyundai to announce U.S. pricing. Ask us about the current Tucson and about timing on the 2027 model.
